Will and Lira Cassity are the writers and producers of the Magical Truth blog and talk show. They are both solitary practitioners of Wicca. Their focus is on utilizing meditation and magic, including Divination, as parts of their daily spiritual living and they have incorporated them into as many aspects of their lives as they could.
Will's spiritual journey began at the age of 5 when he first began having visions and dream premonitions. This lead to an early interest in spirituality and religion. At that time, he accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and was baptized in a Southern Missionary Baptist Church. When the visions became stronger, he reaffirmed his Christian faith by going through baptism again at the age of 9.
Later, at the age of 14, Will's closet relative, his part Native American grandmother had passed away and this drew in his interest in the craft because he continued to feel her presence around and guiding him. After many long discussions with his Christian friends and family, he pulled away from his research and became a Pentecostal youth minister and local evangelist until he was 19.
As Will begin to undergo a spiritual crisis of faith, his sister, Deborah Anna, was living in Houston, TX and facing a life threatening situation. Fearful that he may sound crazy, he contacted his sister and shared his visions and impressions with her. That very night, his visions were revealed to be accurate and she was able to respond to the situation and keep herself and her two young children safe.
For many years after that, Will began to research the teachings of other religions, even exploring Scientology, as an agnostic and he continued to share his visions with others at no charge in hopes of helping others through crisis in their lives. It wasn't until May 2000, during yet another troubling time in Will's life that he met a Wiccan High Priestess at an after cast party for the Renaissance Faire that he was a player in that year. She told him that he had an old soul and the heart of a teacher and asked if she could do a blessing for him. Within days of this High Priestess performing a simple blessing and protection incantation on Will, his life began to turn around and his visions became sharper and clearer. He discovered the ability to manifest change in his life. It was on Samhain 2000 that Will performed a self dedication ceremony upon himself into the Gardnerian Wicca tradition as an ecclesiastical (solitary) witch and adopted the Wiccan name Iritar. It was in May 2001 that he met the love of his life, Lira, who also followed the same solitary tradition.
Will continued his "day job" as a software developer and business data analyst until February 2009 until he took a spiritual "leap of faith" and pursued his Wiccan teachings and Psychic Consultations full-time. For the first time ever, he began to charge for his services on a site called Keen.com and established himself as a world renounced 5 Star Psychic Consultant, assisting many people from all over the world. His articles and essays on Wicca have been published and republished across many ezines and websites and he has had articles featured on The Witch's Voice.
Some of Will's primary pagan influences include Scott Cunningham, Raymond Buckland, Gerald Gardner, Eleanor Bone, Isaac Bonewits, Selena Fox, Patrick McCullum and Nashville local Wiccan author Tish Owen. Will still has a strong appreciation of the Biblical Canon and many other religious paths, especially shamanistic paths, with a special empathy for the Native American people. Will continues to search for the Universal Truths that cross through all religions, for in that truth, the secrets of Divinity are revealed.
Non-pagan influences that had an impact on Will include Nikola Tesla, George Carlin, Penn Jillette, Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Smith (lead singer of The Cure), Tori Amos, Robert Frost, Frank Herbert, Lewis Black, and President Ronald Reagan. But most importantly, his family and life long friends...
Will and Lira currently have 3 children with another on the way and a cat, the children have named "Princess Tutu".
